Dr. Mark Gottesman
Dr. Mark Gottesman completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated with a Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals in Houston, Texas.
Performing newborn circumcisions was an integral part of Dr. Gottesman’s training. During his subsequent 33 years of full-time practice as an OB-GYN, he has performed over 4,000 circumcisions.
The Technique For newborns
Dr. Gottesman uses the Mogen clamp technique. He first administers a local anesthetic injection and waits between five to seven minutes to make sure the anesthetic has taken hold. The actual circumcision procedure takes less than five minutes. Dr. Gottesman performs only newborn circumcisions.
